Microneedling Treatment

Microneedling is an effective, safe and minimally invasive treatment that can visibly improve the overall appearance of the skin by harnessing the skin’s own regenerative capacities.  It can be used on the face, neck and body to reduce wrinkles, tighten ageing skin and diminish scarring.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling uses multiple, tiny, sterile needles to create micro-punctures to the skin, which triggers an inflammatory response in order to heal and repair the tissue damage. This stimulates the production of collagen and elastin which are essential for skin health, smoothness and elasticity. As part of treatment, serums are introduced via the micro-punctures, this delivers healing nutrients deep into the skin and increases the effectiveness of the microneedling treatment.

Unlike injectable treatments, microneedling is an entirely natural process that stimulates the body’s own repair and renewal process. The micro-fine needles are adjusted to different depths and speeds and the Meso-Glide serum specific to your needs is chosen help address your skin concern.

Treatment Areas:

MicroneedlingMicroneedling can be used for larger, general areas such as the face and neck, or it can also be used for very specific issues such as scars. It can be applied with pinpoint accuracy and can be used on all areas of the body including the face, lip and eye area, ears, neck, chest, hands and scalp. In addition to diminishing scars and stretch marks, it promotes rapid lifting, firming and toning of facial features, evens out skin tone and texture, resulting in plumper, younger-looking skin.

The Dr Pen M8S used for microneedling at The Artemis Clinic is virtually pain-free and there is no need for numbing cream. The tiny micro-punctures created usually close within 7 – 15 minutes of treatment. There is minimal downtime after treatment and most people return to regular daily activities immediately.

Possible Side Effects:

There may be some pinpoint bleeding, however it should

stop minutes after treatment. There will likely be erythema, which gives the sensation and appearance of mild sunburn.

There may be small brown, red or purple spots on delicate areas such as around the eyes. These can take 2 – 3 days to dissipate. Occasionally there may be minor itching or swelling in the treated areas.

One session is all it takes to start to see an improvement in the skin’s appearance and texture. More significant and lasting effects will start after 8 – 12 weeks. The skin will continue to regenerate and improve for up to 12 months, particularly if you continue to use daily high quality SPF50.

For general skin rejuvenation, 3 – 4 sessions, spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart are usually recommended.

For acne scars and deep wrinkles, 4 – 8 sessions may be required, spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart.
