Physiotherapy helps to reduce pain and restore movement when someone is affected by injury or disability.
A physiotherapist will use manual therapy, manipulation, exercises, education and advice to promote recovery and prevent recurrence.
Chartered physiotherapists will most frequently treat back pain, neck pain, knee pain, sciatica and sports injuries.
The clinics’ physiotherapist qualified in 1996 and had many years of training in various hospital settings before moving into private practice.
Physiotherapy has been the core service at The Artemis Clinic since it opened its doors in 2006. Clients can be assured they are in the hands of an experienced professional and will receive a hands-on approach to treatment.
That is why our clients return time and again and refer their friends and family as well.
Commonly Seen Conditions
At The Artemis Clinic we see clients for a wide range of musculo-skeletal problems. The most common of which are:
- Neck pain
- Back pain
- Ankle sprains
- Sports injuries
- Shoulder pain
- Knee pain
- Posture related dysfunction
- Mobility issues
- Complaints following accidents
What To Expect At Your Initial Consultation
A detailed history of your presenting condition will be taken, this will be followed by a physical examination to facilitate diagnosis.
Once a diagnosis has been reached the findings and appropriate treatment plan, incorporating physiotherapy and/or acupuncture, will be discussed with you.
Treatment is always incorporated into the initial consultation.
We also help clients with the management of chronic pain. The reasons for the pain can be varied but may include conditions such as osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia and polymyalgia.
If a new client presents with chronic pain we advise three sessions of treatment only to begin with. We take this approach to protect the client as we (or any other practitioner) are unable to guarantee results with these cases.
If there is going to be a benefit it will have presented by then, in which case we continue with treatment. If there has been no improvement after three sessions, there is unlikely to be one and we advise not to proceed with further treatment.
If an issue is not within the scope of physiotherapy, we will direct the client, with a referral letter if necessary, to the appropriate doctor or consultant. There is no additional charge for this service.
The most commonly used treatment techniques at the clinic include:
- Manual therapy and joint manipulation
- Ultrasound therapy
- Deep tissue massage
- Trigger point therapy
- Acupuncture, this may be used in combination with other treatments or used by itself
- Posture advice and retraining
- Exercise advice
- Ergonomic advice
- Relaxation advice

I have visited Elaine on and off for the last year and have to say she is great. I have struggled with my back for many years and have visited many other clinics both private and NHS. I can honestly say Elaine is the only one who has managed to locate the pain and give me lasting results. She is warm and friendly and full of great advice. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Elaine and the Artemis Clinic.T. Jones July 2017

"The clinic has a lovely atmosphere and staff are very friendly. Texts are sent to remind you of appointments which was great. Have seen Elaine for an ongoing problem with my back, she was very experienced and provided me with helpful information. Would certainly recommend and look forward to trying some of their beauty treatments."S Cheese Sep 2016
